Retirement Planning And First-Home Buying Help In One Night
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Two very different stages of life, one shared problem: big money decisions feel harder than they should. We’ve been busy putting together a practical, no-pressure night of learning for the Kāpiti Coast and the wider Wellington region, and we lay out exactly what’s happening, who it’s for, and why it’s worth your time.\n\nOn 19 March at Ngā Manu Nature Reserve, we’re running two free seminars. First up (2–4pm) is a session built for over-60s and anyone approaching retirement who feels asset rich but cash poor. We bring in speakers to unpack succession planning and estate planning, retirement investment services, and what a reverse mortgage in New Zealand actually looks like in real life, with Heartland Bank explaining the details. We also talk senior-focused real estate support with Harcourts, including the kinds of moves people consider as life changes.\n\nLater the same day (6–8pm) we switch to first-home buyers. If auctions, tenders, and making an offer make your head spin, this is designed to replace anxiety with a plan. You’ll hear practical guidance from a real estate perspective, KiwiSaver insights for buying your first home in uncertain markets, and legal help on how offers work and what to watch for.\n\nSeats are limited (50), it’s free, and catering is provided. Subscribe for more Wellington and Kāpiti property and finance guidance, share this with someone who needs it, and leave us a review if you want more community events like these.

If you are in Carpeti Wellington region, this is the podcast for you. So listen up. I've got James in the house and we've got some exciting news for you. Hello, James.
SPEAKER_00Hello.
SPEAKER_01James, what are we up to?
March 19 Senior Seminar Overview\n
SPEAKER_00We've been very busy actually. Busy, busy, busy. So we've got a couple of cool seminars that we have planned for March 19 being held at Namanu in Capity Coast, the Wildlife Preserve. Preserve? Is it a preserve?
SPEAKER_01Reserve. But they do preserve.
SPEAKER_00They are being the birds. Some birds I'm sure are preserved after they have their time.
SPEAKER_01So 19th of March, we're gonna run two, not one, but two different seminars. The first one we're gonna do is going to be for people that are coming up to their retirement, they're wondering what to do with life, they might have lots of assets, but cash poor. So we are there for them to provide some knowledge going into this next stage of their life.
March 19 First-Home Buyer Session\n
SPEAKER_00We're trying to build awareness of all the options that are out there for them. So we're not going into this seminar with, oh, we're trying to sell you something. You know, you wouldn't, you know, we're not making you walk out there uh uh and sign something that you must do do uh take on this loan or something like that. All we're doing is we've got about four different speakers in different areas that are relevant to the retired generation. So we've got things like uh we've got somebody uh speaking about succession planning and estate planning. Uh we've got someone speaking about investment services that might available for retirees, reverse mortgages, Heartland Bank will be talking about reverse mortgages, so talking a bit more about what kind of things you can do with a reverse mortgage. And finally, we've got a a couple from Harcourts who are going to talk about real estate services for seniors. So that all all the speakers are aimed directly at over 60s.
SPEAKER_01Yep. And that's at two o'clock.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna run for two hours and we're gonna provide them with some tea, coffee, nibbles, maybe wine, and maybe a little something extra.
SPEAKER_00So you're not gonna jump out of a cake, are you? I could do a dance.
SPEAKER_01All right, just we'll do a dance. Also, so um, so that's 19th of March at 2 p.m. at Namano. And this is for our senior population.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, over 60s.
SPEAKER_01Over 60s, ideally. But hey, look, if you're not 60 yet and you want to come along, please do. I mean, you know, it's open for everyone and it's free, it's absolutely free because we believe sharing information is power, and we're on a mission to raise awareness, as James said. So um, we'll be there for you. Should we cover off the second bit of the seminar that we're gonna do? Absolutely. Let's just do that now. So the same day, we're gonna tidy up after everyone leaves at four o'clock. He's gonna have a nap. I'm gonna work hard and tidy up everything. And then at six o'clock, we're gonna kick off a session for our first home buyers. So this is open again to anyone that's either in the process of buying their first home or looking to buy, may not be even ready to buy for the next six to twelve months or two years, they're all welcome to come. So we're gonna have a couple again from HG. So, my dear friends Georgie and Hayden, they're gonna present from the real estate point of view and just watch out for tenders, auctions, etc., how to make an offer. There's going to be investment advisor talking about Kiwi Savers. And if you do have a Kiwi Saver in this turbulent times, what to do and how to prepare. And then we're also gonna have a lawyer to cover off how to put an offer and things like that. So there's going to be a very informational packed session, but you will walk away feeling way more confident than you came in.
Numbers Limited And How To Register\n
SPEAKER_00Yep. We've seen the content, you know, that these speakers are going to be uh talking about, and it's really great. You know, it and as Zeboniso says, even if you're not buying a home within the next six months, there's stuff that you're gonna get out of this seminar that's gonna help you organize your finances so that you're in a good position in six months or a year's time to actually buy a house. You're gonna learn all the little tricks that um we often deal with.
Times, Catering, And Sign-Off
SPEAKER_01I also think the keys that sometimes people forget is those seminars are very limited in terms of numbers of people we can have. So we can only have 50 people there. And to be honest, we already, I think, got about 15 to 20 people that registered. And who knows, they might bring their parents, friends, yeah, etc. So, guys, if I was you, I would just jump in and register. And to register, it's quite simple. We had a mail out to go out. So if you're not on our database, you wouldn't have received it. But if if you do want to register, just let us know. Just flick us a message and James will register you in. Again, it's free 19th of March, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for our seniors, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for our first time buyers.
SPEAKER_00And catering provided because I know you want it.
SPEAKER_01Be there or be square. See you then. See ya.
